James O. Rigney Jr.
Oct 17,1948 - Sep 16, 2007

James Oliver Rigney, Jr. was born October 17, 1948 and served 2 tours of duty in Vietnam as a helicopter gunner. For his service he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with bronze oak leaf cluster, the Bronze Star with "V" and bronze oak leaf cluster, and two Vietnamese Gallantry Crosses with palm. Upon his return to the 'World', he received his degree in physics from The Citadel and worked with the US Navy as a nuclear engineer. He began writing in 1977. He wrote under the Pen Names: Regan O'Neal, Jackson O'Reilly, and Robert Jordan. He authored books in the Conan series, and created and authored the mammoth Wheel of Time Series. He died September 16, 2007 from complications of his illness (cardiac amyloidosis).

Of note:
Items from Mr. Rigney's (Robert Jordan's) Blade Collection are being auctioned off on ebay currently. Do an ebay seller search for gkitchens.
