I saw this 'stock' on ebay. I have seen this 'design' before, maybe in the Blevins Collection. Generally the kanji is made up/meaningless. The highlighted initials are what sparked my memory. This appears to be a 25th series rifle.





Now that I think about it, it may be Type 38 Carbines that I've seen the flag, and two toned initials on...The initials on one were a stylized 'E.R.B.' very similar to this. Anyone got a better 'rememberer' than me? I have pictures somewhere...

I'm no expert but that is not Kanji on that stock. That is not even a good fake at it. Maybe, "Eat at Joe's Fish Shack."?

My guess is GI art. I doubt if an IJA soldier would deface the Emperor's rifle.
