Hello,
I just wanted to thank you for allowing me to post in your forum. I'm new to the Japanese collecting scene and recently bought my first Japanese Rifle. It is made by Nagoya and is all matching including the cleaning rod. It is serial numbered 48803. thank you for your interest and in any info you can provide me.
Regards,
Joel |

Joel, sorry for the delay, I've been out shooting since Wednesday afternoon. If your rifle is Nagoya, your serial number indicates it is a series 4 or 5. See series marks and let me know what series, and I can provide you a little more information. The series mark is the small mark in a circle to the left of the serial number. Thanks for posting. I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

gwsiii, thank you for your reply.. It has a fifth series mark on it. I'm new to the whole Japanese militaria collecting scene, and happened upon a fellow co-worker selling this gun. Glad I bought it.

Joel, your rifle is right in the middle of the next to last series that they made. Nagoya produced series' 4-6, with only 100,000 in series' 4 and 5, and a few thousand in the 6th series. It should have an all blued finish. A complete 38 carbine is hard to find. Very nice acquisition and they are fun to shoot. They are very addictive, and reproduce quickly if you're not carefull. If you plan on more than one, Fred Honeycutt's Military Rifles of Japan (listed on the Reference section) is a must. Thanks for posting. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

Joel, ballpark, I paid $250 for my ground, excellent condition 4 digit 5th series about 3 years ago, it is matching down to the dust cover, and floor plate with original blued rod. I wouldn't ask less than $350 for it now and it would probably take closer to $450 (due to condition and matching d/c)to get me to part with it. Without knowing what condition yours is in, its hard to say. You didn't mention whether or not it was mummed or ground. In good condition, ground, matching $250-$325, same condition with mum $325-$400. Fine condition with mum, name your price. Someone is likely to pay it. They won't pay too much, they'll just buy it a little bit too soon. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

gwsiii, thank you again for your help.... Much appreciated......It has the MUM and even behind the safety tang it has a matching serial mark too. the only problem is the bolt's pretty pitted and the maker mark seems to be unreadable. Thank you again for your help and guidance.
Regads,
Joel |
