.
.
I recently obtained this 'supposed' Arisaka Stock on e-bay.

It was described as a Type 99 stock, but it is NOT !

At least my Type 99 Arisaka Barrel and Trigger Guard will not fit in there.

If anyone in the know can help me - please do so !

Welcome, good to have you.
I don't believe it is for an Arisaka. I am not well versed enough on world rifles to identify it though. Hopefully someone will come along.
only the Siamese Mauser, Murata Magazine rifle (Type 22), and Type 44 Carbines have a trap in the stock. Only the siamese mauser has one that large (for muzzle cover storage), and the majority of those have wrist tangs, and the stock will be inletted/slotted for the dust cover. Do you have an overall pick of stock and hand guard?

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon!

No...that is all I bought on e-bay. ? ? ? ?

The e-bay vendor advertised it as an Arisaka Type 99 Stock.

I was not careful enough ! Maybe someone will want to buy it sometime....

My concern is, HOW do I advertise it ? As WHAT ?

Is it Rare ? Valuable ? lol.....

Is this it? I think it is a sporterized US 1917 or British P14 Enfield stock, not particularly valuable. Send me a picture of what you need a stock for and I can direct you to the proper auction for parts when I get the chance.

Holy Mackerel ! Yes - THAT is the auction I won !

It was advertised as an Arisaka Type 99 Stock !

"WWII JAPANESE TYPE 99 ARISAKA RIFLE STOCK-ORIGINAL"
hsufi2 was the seller.

That is a Good Lesson...."Trust, but verify." Ronald Reagan.

I have several Enfields. I'll have to see if they fit !

Wow ! Thank you for that Heads Up.....

I obtained a Type 99 Arisaka from a Friend (who is 80 and no longer shooting) and it was bubba'ed
("sporterized") with the Butt Extended by 2.5 inches - rather crudely accomplished.

He bought it that way from a Pawn Shop years earlier.
I was trying to find a unsullied Arisaka type 99 stock to replace it.
I worked on the bubba'ed stock and improved it, added a flat wood Butt Plate, filled it in with Bondo and painted it.

I plan to cover the Butt End in Thin Black Leather with Brass Brads on the leather edges. My own form of Bubba !
There is NO WAY to return it to original condition.

BTW - It shoots really nice with my reloads (LEE 185 gr WW Cast and capped Bullets with 22 gr of 2400).

Anyway - Arisaka's are quickly going up in price for some strange reason !

I think I have invested enough Money in that Arisaka !

Looks nice and neat, congrats. Thanks for sharing!

If you change your mind, I have several sporter stocks, probably $25 each (no hardware) +shipping. Trey
