Rolling Eyes What is a quick and easy way to tell Type 38 dust covers from the Type 99 ones when they are detached from a rifle?

Thanks Earl. Now which ones have the support post at the inside rear of the cover?

Most 38 covers will have the L-stop, very very early 99 covers may as well. Trainer covers are usually un-numbered and do not have the L-stop. Watch out for people shortening 38 covers as the receiver slots on some 99s are too short for the bolt to close with a 38 dust cover on it. Trey

Do all the Type 99 (longs) dustcovers have the L-stop or is it also a matter that some do, some don't? Kim

I think all of the 99 Longs that I have seen that had matching dust covers had L-Stops in them (6 or 8 I guess), I've seen quite a few more with non-maching covers that were length with L-stop, 99 length w/out L-stop, and 38 Covers w/L-stop. Trey
