Does anyone know what this ammo belt was for? It looks like its in great shape. Is it japanese, VC or Chinese?

I believe its Chinese, its marked 56 Type 7.62. I think the SKS is a Type 56.

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon!

This is Chinese and was used a lot during the Vietnam war by both the NVA and VC. Primarily it was issued with the SKS for the 7.62x39mm in stripper clips only and there is a pouch for just stripper clips and a pouch for the cleaning solvent container. If the bearer had a Type-56 weapon a Chinese made version of the Soviet AK-47 he used the stripper clips to load the magazines. These harnesses did not hold magazines. There are harnesses which were made to carry 3 30 round magazines.

This ammo belt is probably THE MOST misidentified belt on eBay! They're listed at least every week as being Japanese

At least I know enough to "ask the experts".

I'm still a newbee.

Thanks for all the information.
