Just saw a Type-38 in the used rack at Cabela's tonight. The stock looked like the original varnish had been removed and replaced with a dull-looking, oily finish like the Turk Mausers came with. Except for a large crack at the pistol grip (which had been repaired with a nicely cut hourglass patch) the wood looked pretty good. The mum was gone and the metal still retained most of the finish.

It was marked at 250. I'm no expert on them, but that seemed high to me.

Sounds a bit high but maybe they're just trying to sell it a 'little too soon' Rolling Eyes Without seeing it though, its really hard to say. If the stock has been refinished that hurts it pretty bad for me. A bad stock just bugs me...

IMHI2, welcome to the forum! Type 38s around here (Souther US) are usually well under valued, running from $175 to about $350 on average, but its all supply and demand. Trey

I saw that "rule 303" signiture line and had to go home and watch Breaker Morant again last night, twice. Old ladys been gone all week,so its just me and the little dogs, watching decent tv for a change and eatin munchies on the couch...Breaker Morant,Zulu, the longest day,Gettysburg etc. all the movies gals are too shallow to appreciate..I should have been packing stuff for shipping, however never do today what you can put off till tomorrow (procrastinators of the world unite...tomorrow) Im glad T-38s havent went too insane pricewise here yet,I still have several I need for my collection.

I like good movies, luckily 'the little dumplin' still appreciates some of them. It not, there's always the 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. weekend showings. Procrastination can be considered a high-art form. I can watch a professional procrastinator for days, but I can't be in the same room with even the best mimes for more than about 5 minutes.
