Here are pictures of a Mexican Contract Type 38. While originally manufactured in 7mm caliber for Mexico, due to default of the original contract, most remained in Japan and were sold to other countries or pressed into service. This one has been converted back to 6.5 Japanese caliber, possibly for Training use in Japan. The Bolt is standard Japanese production and matches an additional number on the bottom of the receiver.

I'd like to get it for myself, I have instructions to list it on gunbroker tomorrow for 'Team Arisaka' a local consortium of collectors who, for one reason or another, can't afford the treasures another member wants to get rid of. Its in a little bit better shape than the pictures show, lighting is important for pictures.
