Not looking for any answers on this one, just sharing.
Picked this up today for dirt cheap because it was broken and glued back together. Just fine with it and happy to have it.
It's labeled...Japanese WW2 Frangicle Hydrocyanic Acid Grenade.

Those are pretty neat, I have a dark brown one, and have seen a bunch with no glaze. I keep meaning to post more pictures of neat stuff, guess I need to get on the ball. Nice item! Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Thanks Trey.
Will put up some more of my "exotic" stuff as I come around to it.
Need to do the sheets first as they're what's important to the community as a whole first. Gotta get on it!

These had a 'nipple-shaped' rubber cap. The late Roy Cooper, B'ham, AL made a few by melting a brown rubber fish-bate worms. Just how I don't know, but it can be done.
Guess you might need to turn a wooden form and pour hot rubber over it?
Someond smarter than I (about 99% of the world's population) could provide instructions. |

Put that down on our list of things to do when Mrs. Ronin.. is out of town. We'll need some in depth study of proper nipple dimensions, so it will be lifelike, I have just the place for a scientific field trip.... _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

Here's an update from Cliff with from a US military manual (TM 9-1985-4, Japanese Explosive Ordnance (Bombs, Bomb Fuzes, Land Mines, Grenades, Firing Devices and Sabotage Devices) March 1953) with a page on the ceramic grenades.
Here's another link to a post about the 'accidental fragmentation pattern' of one of these babies. _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!
