"Rifle, U. S., Type 99, Japanese Cal. .30" covers what is known on the history of the rifles converted for the Republic of Korea troops. Included is a brief summary of events leading to the Korean War, the decision to convert stored T-99s to .30 cal, the conversion process, use of the rifles in battle and use by the Japanese National Police force which later became the Self Defense Force.
The Appendixs include photos of the converted parts with standard T-99 parts, blue prints of the actual conversion along with blue prints for the jigs, to make the conversions, secret documents (in 1951) on adopting the web frog to attach the T-30 scabard to the U.S. web belt, the Technical Manual developed for the rifle and a Standard Nomenclature List showing all parts of the rifle, etc. Five different stocks, both long and short, four different front bands,,etc. 100+ pages.
