Early 24th series 99, with mum and matching dust cover. Interesting band variation, 'I' type, no provision for pod, but has the wider loop at the top sling swivel. Square rod retainer, but only drilled for the 5" push in rod, not the long one.
Now to try the picts:
It works, great work Trey, now even I can post picts! _________________ 03man |

That's a good one. Interestingly enough 3 of the 5 reported under 300 have matching dust covers. Those rods turn up from time to time, look for a domed top. Or course, if you see any of them, you probably ought to buy it, just to hold on to. The kokura short rods have a rounded top, where the ones that have shown up in the 37th series have flat tops and are (I think) a little thinner than the kokura rods. I'd have to check on that.
I set up the picture thing back in April or May. It works pretty well, they've recently had some server trouble, but haven't lost anything. I think after 90 days, the thumbnail stays, but the larger pictures are archived, I don't know if they are available after that. When they first started, if something went 30 days without getting accessed, they dropped them. I have a couple I have to put back. Thanks for posting, very nice rifle. I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

That is one sweet gun,Don, even if it isnt nagoya.I dont overly care for kokura's as a rule, but the 24th series has so many neat variations I have to make an exception for it.wonderful find. |

That is a great rifle! Gotta love matching DCs. I hope you can locate a rod for it. I will disagree with davef, I really like kokura 99s. they seem to be the highest quality and much nicer fit and finish. I understand daves point though. They have far fewer variations, seem to be very consistent. The shame is that they seem, imho, to be hard to find. I find more TJK guns than kokura. _________________ Fat, Drunk, and Stupid is no way to go through life son. |
