Saw this interesting post on another forum and replied with my thoughts. Anyone else heard of this? Several vets reported Japanese soldiers strapped or chained to their guns. I think this would be a sign dishonor and cowardice to the Japanese soldier....any other thoughts?

I've heard of it from the first world war about allied/axis troops. I don't remember hearing/seeing it mentioned about Japanese soldiers though. Trey

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon!

I worked with a WWII vet. Before WWII when we still had machinegun companies, he was in one. He told me (I never saw the picture) that he had a picture of himself changed to the tripod of a Browning .30 cal., with a leg iron. Sometime in the 60's he wrote to the Dept. Of Defense about it trying to get information as to when and why the practice was discontinued. He said they denied it was ever a practice by the U.S. Army.
