Excited to be here...my first post.
I found a type 26 holster at the local flea market the other day. I need one for my type 26, but can't seem to find much info about the holster. After checking out the holster it looks orginal, very well built, very clean and has the sholder strap. I can't find any markings anywhere on it.
Will all leather goods have markings on them?
Is there a specific place to look on that holster for markings?
They are asking $175 and I want to make sure it's legit before I chuck out that kind of change. _________________ Glad to be here. |

Welcome to the forum! If it is indeed a Type 26 holster with shoulder strap, that is a good price. The French also produced a similar holster of lighter weight construction that is just a little bit different. Both holsters are marked under the clamshell flap. The Japanese marks, usually a data and arsenal mark are stamped and inked. As far as I can tell the French versions are just ink stamped. The Type 26 holster will have a 'pouch' along the outside of the holster for a cleaning rod. The ammunition pouch will have three rows of loops for individual rounds of ammunition, there are 18 loops in three rows. Teri at NambuWorld has a very nice page on T26 holsters here. I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Thanks Trey,
I'll keep you updated on this piece. I'm checking it out again this weekend and I'll let you know if I pick it up. Maybe I'll show it off too. _________________ Glad to be here. |

Attached is one photo to help tell the difference. The other photo shows a Type-26 with the cleaning rod on the side. At first glance they look alike until you start to really get into the weeds between the two. Look at the should strap "D" rings as well as the shape and stiching of the center spacer block. The other photo shows you a type-26 holster ammo pouch with the 18 loops. Hope these help and I do hope you found a nice Type-26 holster.

Well guys...no such luck. It was not a holster for a Type-26.
Thanks for your help guys the pic's were great. Thanks Dale and Trey.
Now, your wondering what the holster is? I'll post a new topic for it as to keep the research easier to find for future reference.
