|
|
I bought some Hornady 6.5 ammo to fire in a type 38 and noticed a substantial difference in the case shape versus original 6.5. In addition the case is marked 6.5 x 51. Has anyone had experiance (good or bad) shooting these.
The Norma looked better, but was twice the cost, and I don't reload.
Thanks |

In europe the 6.5x50 arisaka is measured as 6.5x51 and the current imported cases from prvi partisan are labeled as such 6.5x51 with some cyrillic letters on the head stamp. It should be a good fit, never saw any that wasnt the same as original ammo ,or pretty close, the stuff from grafs, hornady and MrNambu etc is a better fit and functions better than the norma usually ,the first firing,as the norma is a little under spec, however once its been fired and expanded to the rifles then the norma has a longer life if you reload.Any brass you get from grafs or most commercial sources currently will say 6.5x51 ,except norma which says 6.5 Japanese ..if yours says 6.5x51 its for the arisaka. |

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Its a weapon of war!!!! you can shoot it in the rain..LOL...Supposed to rain here thru next friday...Think I may give up on my horsetrailer painting project and build an ARK instead,I need my trailer in show condition for saturday, the day its supposed to quit pouring..a year or so ago ,we had a "allies vs axis" shoot one saturday, It was raining fit to drowned fish, everybody slopping around in ponchos and such ,3' geysers everytime a round hit the burm, nasty and wet, and a total blast.Times like that a guy wishes you had an MG for a few minutes just to tear up the burm and watch the mud fly. |
