My ser.7 has a proof just beneath the "Shiki". It looks like a double chevron mark. Any ideas as to the significance.
Also, the mum, it looks like it was defaced with acid and not an instrument.

Chuck, thats a neat one. I can't really tell much from the picture about the mum or the other strike though. If I had to guess, I'd say it was just a miss hit. It looks like the mum was partially struck with something and they may have gone down that far on the one below the shiki. Then whatever was used to finish defacing the mum left it like it is. I don't think its an inspection mark. I might could tell more with a better (larger) picture. Trey

Yes, a larger, lighter picture would help, with the chevrons in the center.
