|
|
Hello...this is my first post. I look forward to learning alot from everybody here!
Anyways, my first question. What is the best way to clean a Arisaka stock without removing to much patina and ruining the original finish?
Thanks in advance,
Sam |

Sam, welcome to the forum. That is a really tough one, everyone has their own way of cleaning. I use wd-40 and a old t-shirt or paper towels. I just spray the stock down, and rub down with the t-shirt or paper towels. Repeat as necessary. The wd40 strips grease and grime off and doesn't hurt the original finish. Others use furniture polish with olde english scratch and dent to cover up scarred spots. Its all in your own personal preferences, absolutely no steel wool or sand paper though. Once you've 'changed' the finish you can't put it back, its not like 'unscrewing a light bulb' if you get my drift.. Good luck! Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Thanks for the advice Trey. It makes perfect sense that the WD-40 would only remove the grim and not penetrate the urishi (spelling?) finish. I have seen your older posts where you show your displayed rifles. All the stocks look great, so I know you speak from experience. Very impressive collection my friend.
Thanks again for the advice,
