A normally well respected auction site presently has a counterfeit Test Type 1 (Folding Stock Carbine) up for auction. Since I don't want to get into a p------ contest with the site or the individual who purports that it is an original, I will not post exactly where it is listed or its serial number. All I can do is warn participants to this site to be VERY careful in bidding on any TT1 until this one is off the net.
I have contacted the auctioneers and have had not response.

After giving it a little thought, let's put it this way...
From Frank's excellent research:
the highest reported/verified Test Type 1 carbine with a 3 digit serial number is 372
The lowest reported/verified Test Type 1 Carbine with a 4 digit serial number is 4076.
Anything in between should be:
1) reported to Frank by filling out a datasheet
2) send pictures for verification
Heeding the above and 69.95 for Frank's book, can save you a lot of heart ache and money! _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!
Fill out a Japanese Rifle Datasheet.
I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

those things seem to turn up periodically, was a rash of them a year or so back also.I was thinking about them just the other day, when I had a difference of opinion with someone on another forum, bad type 1's and other guns with BS "logic"/justification about them actually, good heads up,maybe it will save some newbie some cash. |
