Hello Everyone,
This is my first post on this forum. I have a relatively small but growing Japanese collection. I recently acquired this Japanese Type 2 Paratrooper rifle. I was in a gun store wasting some time while I was having some things sewn onto my uniform. As I was leaving I saw this rifle sitting in the corner. Initially I thought it was a Type 99. When I asked to see it, I could hardly contain my excitement. The rifle is in beautiful condition. Both halves of the rifle have matching serial numbers, the Mum has not been touched, and it still has the original anti-aircraft sites. The only part of the rifle that doesn't match everything else is the bolt which is roughly 50 numbers off of the other serial number. The bolts could have been mixed up by the Japanese when they were cleaning their weapons or it could have had the bolt picked up from a pile by a GI when he captured the rifle. So as I was attempting not to drool or seem too excited, I asked the dealer if the rifle was for sale. I instantly saw the hesitation in his eyes but he still said a price.... a price that was a great deal that I could not refuse. I love looking over this thing and comparing it to my grandfathers cousin's Type 99 he captured in the Aleutian Campaign. Very cool!
