While at Bobby's last year, I was shown a type 99 with AA wings that extended horizonially once the rear sight was raised. At first glance, it looked like a normal AA sight. What series was this feature from and what was the purpose? Thanks.

I've looked at it many times, and had a couple others reported. It appears to be for higher air speeds. Just a guess though. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Thanks Trey, I found a reference on page 36 to the sight variation in "Japanese Rifles of World War II" by Duncan O. McCollum. ( A great book for those who wish to learn more about these rifles.) The variation shows up in the 22nd series Kokura.

Sorry, had completely forgotten about this point, Bobby's rifle is in the 66k range of the 22nd series. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!
