|
|
Hello all,
A co worker recently discovered this item which had been tucked away in "grandmas attic" for decades.
It is supposedly 100-percent original. This had been taken from an officer or soldier during the war, and there is even original documentation of the acquisiton/transfer.
I am by no means knowledgeable at all about nambus, but what is interesting about this particular pistol is that the grips don't appear to be similar to anything I've seen while gathering research on the net. I have not seen anything like it.
The serial number is also relatively very low, 883 to be exact.
Is there anything you Nambu guru's can tell me about this thing?
thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum!
Wow, nice grouping! The grips aren't original factory installed, but certainly are cool! They sort of look like they are styled after the grips on target pistols from the late 40's and early 50's. The pistol looks to be a Nagoya 2nd series, #887 I'd guess dated 18.11 (November 1943). I'm sure Type14 will be along soon to fill you in. Capture papers make it all better too! Thanks for posting! I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Trey has it correct. If you remove that right grip you will find the date of manufacture and it will read 18.11. I have no idea what those grips are made out of but it does look like something post war. Does the mag match? Also, the holster if from an earlier Type-14 but that is ok. What kind of "D" rings are on the back of the holster, square or oval? What kind of info are you looking for? Also, it was made at the Nagoya factory Toriimatsu. |
