Well It was a heck of a show, I was in 'payoff mode' not acquisition mode so I don't really know what was there, I didn't walk the show until Sunday. The Salute to Vets was pretty impressive for this show. Several Outstanding displays, however, the display names were not announced, so all I can tell you is I got 1st place Weapons, in theme, but not Best of Show, not bad for a bunch of rusty old bolt action rifles. Unfortunately, by the time I got my camera out and found a Sgt. at Arms to escort me, as I can't be trusted to take pictures, most of the military vehicles were already out of the hall.
Here's my little trouble maker and the tank....
A nice 37th series with added pod was there, several decent 38s and a few 99s. Quite a few Nambus in the hall. Some members of the original 'Band of Brothers' and other Vets were there signing autographs. Quite a few people got their books, helmets, DVDs signed. Some really outstanding displays, unfortunately I don't think I can post any pictures but those of the immediate Banzai members (Back Row of the show).
My display, Type 44 Carbines. It has been 17 Months since I last displayed them, and I added the high number for 1st variation housing since then.
Alasaka's Arisaka's Used by Russia, they weren't Russian marked, just examples of the Arisaka's they used.
The Olde One went all Gangsta' in the Hood with his Japanese Cavalry Weapons and Associated Equipment display...
His esteemed Honor, all Hail to him, Awe Hell!
CrazyJapaneseCop's NVA Display

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Looks like it was a good show, sorry to have missed it. One of these days I'll drag along my type-30 that is captured marked. Most likely used by Russia then captured and returned to service. It's the one with the tag nailed to the stocked. Picture of the tag is in Franks book on the early Arisakas |

Please do. Would like to see it. I have a Type 38 with the triangle mark and over stamp on mum. If these old rifles could talk.
If you are just reading this and you don't get out and go to shows, you don't know what you are missing. Even if you aren't in a position to buy something, come out, look, pick up, handle, touch, then sit down and visit. You'll learn things, see things, hear things that you never would lurking at home behind a computer trying to figure out if that stock has been sanded or not. We don't bite and if you're nice, we'll usually go out of our way to help you.
Here's something to chew on, active collectors are not in it for the money, any original parts that they have are generally held in reserve for themselves. If they sell it to you for X, when they have to buy another for themselves, it will be X + Y. I have two rifles waiting on stocks, I had the stocks at one time, and thought, I can find another one, well, I haven't, its been 3 years on one and 5 years on the other...When did I get rid of the rifles with the stocks I need now? About 4 and 6 years ago. And so it goes. _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!
