After bailing on a few ebay auctions when the price shot through my comfort zone, I got lucky a couple weeks ago and won the bid for $41. It's an early model according to the sites I've seen, Tokyo arsenal, really nice light colored grips that look like oak. But there are two characters on the pommel I can't decipher: two curving vertical strokes joined by a horizontal stroke, and another below the number that looks like a flying short winged bird. The no. is 40079. |

I'd guess the marks are the pommel include inspection marks, and possibly a series number due to the serial number. An early Tokyo bayonet with that low of a number should probably be numbered on the tang, with a corresponding number on the scabbard. If you can, email me a picture and I'll post it if you can't. Thanks for posting. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |
