Although I now live in the South, I have never thought much about potential termite damage to my rifles stored in the attic. As the attached picture indicates this can be a bad idea.
The photo is of a CZ semi-auto rifle stored in an attic in Thailand. I had no idea they could to this much damage. Apparently even the blueing is ruined.

I can't imagine a worse place to store rifles than in an attic with it's uncontrolled temperatures & humidity.
