I was recently able to acquire this Type 90 helmet from a friend whose father was a Marine machine gunner on Tinian and Saipan. My friend did not know which island his father got the helmet from. I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on the helmet, what the approximate market value might be (for insurance), and what the markings/symbols might mean?

Sorry for the delay, took the weekend off from the internet. Nice helmet. I don't follow prices closely but would guess $350 and up.

The white painted character before the arabic 84 is 4, but might have another meaning.

The S in the diamond is probably a maker's mark, the mark painted below it is ko, it is the size, I think ko is small, but I can't remember, hopefully someone will come along and help us both out! Good stuff is still out there! Thanks for posting. Trey
