Were the Type 38 rifles and carbines serial numbered separately? Could two rifles end up having the same serial number due to a change in barrels and stock on one of them?
Thanks,

Rifles and Carbines were numbered separately. In theory you could find early Tokyo and Mukden rifles and carbines without series marks but with the same numbers. Others would have series marks making their numbers distinctive on the receiver, except for possibly the 26th series at Kokura and Nagoya. A friend has 3 of the 99 family (long and short), all with the same serial number, just different series/arsenals. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |
