I'm sure most of you have seen the simple bolt action rifles and submachine guns You see in MRoJ and other publications chambered for 7.7MM and 8MM Nambu. Did the Japanese ever start small scale or preproduction of these items? If they where even simpler then the Late War 99's why didn't they put them into production right away? Or where these designed just in case they couldn't even produce substitute Standard 99's anymore? Brett |

It's my understanding that some of it was stuff designed to certain criteria that any local 'machine shop' could produce easily for the defense of the homeland during the impending invasion, so that every man, woman, and child would have something to repel the barbarian invaders. 1 shot, 1 stab, 1 GI out of commission sort of thing. Whether it be 'simple rifle, pistol', pipe gun, pipe bomb, pole arm, etc. Although, some of it could possibly be of Chinese manufacture mistakenly identified as being Japanese. It would be an interesting topic of study I'm sure. I just don't know enough about it to add much more to the discussion. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |
