Is there a particular series that the so called Aleutian sight appears on the Type 99 rifles? Were they fitted on existing stores of rifles or factory fit to a particlar series?

Hard to say for sure, the ones that I'm sure of are in the early 23rd series. While the aleutian rear sight is what its commonly called, it really is more of a 'cold weather attachment.' No rifles that I'm aware of, reported captured in the Aleutians, exhibit this style sight modification. I'm planning on studying two examples in more depth at the end of the month. I'll try to remember to report my findings, here or in BANZAI. Trey
