Picked this up the other day...don't really know what to make of it.
There are two pieces of broken glass in the small box-enclosure on the inside of the box.
I paid small enough to not matter what it is, just don't know what it is...?
Any help...would be help. |

I like these boxes, wish I had room to display them and could afford to buy them all. I don't have a clue what it says, I don't see the typical 'Shiki' for Type or dates that I can recognize. The hook-clasps are similar to what are on my late field telephone. Color of box makes me think Navy, if its military at all. Looks battleship gray. I really don't know though, we'll see when I hear back from the translator. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

Translation as requested:
from Edokko: Quote: | ...Saw the photo of the box. The writings read "Koku-ki yo Chiku-denchi Yogu Bako Ichi gata", and translates to "Aircraft rechargeable battery and accessory box Model 1"... |
A big thanks to Edokko for his knowledge, time, and effort for these translations! _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

Interesting. I also was going on a Navy hunch (if even military). Now I have something more to go on.
Also, like you I find these pretty neat but just don't have space to really go after them. At the least it's a cool box to keep Japanese stuff in.
Thanks again!

I too, like these boxes for keeping my collection odds & ends in. I have one for generator parts, another that was for a weather baloon! Then I hve other various boxes as well. One thing I've never been able to find is an honest to gosh rifle or pistol ammo packing crate. They may have been nailed shut boxes that were not meant for re-use so they would not have made great souvineers. _________________ "A woman, a dog & and a walnut tree.
