Here is a Jinsen 'For Education' Type 38. I don't have an overall pic, but here are the distinctive receiver markings, which translate to 'To Teach' or 'For Education'. I lean towards these being 'tool up' guns when Jinsen Arsenal was gearing up to produce production rifles of satisfactory quality for issue to front line troops. Early ones had matching dust covers marked 'blank ammunition only.' I'm not sure that this one ever did, it doesn't show any wear on the receiver from the dust cover. While Honeycutt's MRoJ indicates a high in the upper 1300 range, the next highest report is about 1000 numbers lower. There were probably less than 400 pieces that are 'Education' marked without a series mark produced (referred to as 0 series Jinsens) The Jinsen 38s, 0 and 30th series, are two of the rarest runs of Type 38 rifles, with less than 13,000 combined rifles produced.

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon!

Thank, I've been lucky enough to come across 2 and 1/2 reasonably priced over the last 2 years. The 1/2 is the receiver with matching dust cover, I have pictures of it somewhere. Trey
