Here is a semi cupped butt plate as found on some Kokura 23rd and 24th series rifles: The give away, I think, is the extra recess around the screw heads if you don't have a normal cupped buttplate handy to compare it to. This rifle is Kokura 24th series ser#69047.

Dear Trey;
Yes, the recessed lower screw is the giveaway point. Most people reporting 23 and 24th Series rifles miss this part variation entirely.
