Hello--I'm new to this and am seeking info regarding a type 99. I am trying to establish a value for insurance purposes and all the type 99's I see for sale are not in a condition as mine. My Type 99 is a 1st series NAGOYA mid-range #. All Parts match and rifle is complete but the dustcover is not #'d, I took it off rifle. Early leather sling w/Japanese markings in paint on it. On buttplate, and bottom of stock forward of magazine floorplate the GI's name has been stamped w/1/8" letters, does not distract. Metal condition a solid 90%. Stock has usual scratches/dings. I would estimate it a strong 85% overall. Comes w/early TOKYO hooked quillon bright blade bayonet in excellent condition. Wish I had written down the history when I bought this 25+ years ago...... Anyway, any thoughts on valuation will be appreciated. MUM NOT GROUND Question

Welcome to the forum. Its really hard to say without pictures, but if as you described with all original parts, including cleaning rod, pod, and wings, Firgure $300+ for rifle, $50+ for bayonet, and $100+ for sling, so minimum $450. This is on the low side, realistically, it would take about $150 more to replace it with a solid grade II gun with the same accessories, if you had to buy them separately, but again, hard to say without seeing it and verifying parts, condition. I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon!

Thanks for the time of a reply. Yes, all parts(pod, wings, rod) are there and original to the piece. I thought the GI name stamping might detract for collectors. I had personally estimated it at $600 so I was about on the money. It is the nicest ARISAKA I have seen in some time. Have looked at shows the last year or so and seen NOTHING this nice. Again, THANKS. AL
