The OldeOne and I examined what I think is the folder that sold at auction recently that is of dubious parentage. I've never had one, so can't really say what to look for. Here are the pictures, and what little that I recognize as being suspect.





The hinge should be two solid plates with integrated hinge and pin, not two separate plates, over a brass hinge.


The cut portion of the stock will have a metal male, and metal female plate that mate up for structural integrity.


The majority of the 'good ones' are from the upper 4th and early 5th series'.

Same gun as from gunbroker a while back...it just aint right in so many ways...by the way it sold for a touch over $700, just a smidge less than the last real one I saw sell..( I ran it up to $200 or so as a freak ,on GB).As we speak,Doss is probably at home with a hacksaw and the hinges of the woodshed

The originals are also all Nagoya I believe, as you said series 4 and 5 carbines.
