Very vague description. What is a "hand cannon"? Do you mean japanese artillery? Can you provide a photo of the cover and/or table of contents?

Handcannons of Imperial Japan by Harry Derby covers the use and development of Japanese Handguns, from true Handcannons to the 'modern' pistols of WWII. It has been rewritten as Japanese Military Cartridge Handguns 1870-1945 (Hand Cannons of Imperial Japan Revised) by Harry Derby and Jim Brown. Cover looks like this:
