I got to look this over this weekend, completely overlooked something, anyone else notice?

There is no Arsenal mark, you can see a badly stamped 'Na' in the lower right, the series mark on the left, and the serial number, but no arsenal mark. Little nothings, like this, are what make collecting interesting. I completely overlooked it the first time I looked at the rifle.

Very interesting! Nice low number as well. Looks to be in very nice condition. All the 29ths I've seen (3 or 4) have seen quite a bit of use. This is also the first I've seen with an untouched mum. Good thing I'm not so much into Nagoyas now or someone would have to sell this to me as soon as possible! Smile

Thanks Dogs, its excellent plus condition with matching bolt body, I need a blued Nagoya pin and Notched safety, anyone got those parts? I'll buy a complete bolt if need be. Trey

Don V. probably can help you on the parts.
My 29th series is matched right down to the dust cover but looks like a combat vet. There's even blood splatter etching that makes the parts even more matched!

I sent Don an email. I like guns with a little use, I'd hate to have to decide between a straight grade 2 with a solid 'been there done that' look to it and a similar minty example that you know came straight out of a crate at the end of the war.
I'm sort of in that position with my Nagoya 97, I'm afraid to take it anywhere, its ground but too nice take any where for fear of scratching it up.

Where's the Nagoya symbol????

Sorry, I looked for the pin and safety; late Nagoya parts are the toughest to find. You could cheat a little if you have a large tab safety and install a 99 pin and safety, would look ok till you find the right one.

Thanks for checking Don, I've got a temporary 'fix' in mind. Guess I'll be cruising ebay for the needed parts, go easy on me guys. Trey
