I ran across a canteen that has Japanese/Chinese characters on the bottom flat. The neck/mouthpiece is threaded [no cap on it] for a cap.
It is in a canvas strap holster much like the EM stopper canteens, the stopper strap is missing. The canteen is aluminum with no paint on it. The price is $58.00. Good deal or too much?

Canteens are a hard to value item. I see prices all over the spectrum, from $25 to $125 or more, so I can't really say with any sort of conviction what would be a good price. You might want to hold out for a complete one for about the same or a little more. I'd lean towards it being a little high, but then you never pay too much, you just buy it too soon. Sounds to me like you have an incomplete officer's canteen in a EM mans canteen harness. I'd pass unless you really need the harness.
