Anyone have written documentation (or any info) on the larger ceramic land mine, size is roughly 17.75" dia, height 19.25"? There is mention in OP 1667 at the end of the Type 3 description of larger ceramic mines existing, but no nomenclature or history of use.

Is Jim Bogdan out there? Thanks

Tom, it's been a long time, hope all is well. I don't often visit this site. Send me a PM and I can provide you my new email address. Off the top of my head I cannot remember the details on this mine but I remember seeing a picture of it in one of my manuals. I will double check my books. It is a giant mine. How did you get this? How much does this weigh? It seems to be made out of the same ceramic material as the type 3 mines. Does it come apart? I am envious! I also have a couple of the type 3 mines, real ones with maker marks. Also have an oddball ceramic experimental "bounding" mine. Didn't know what is was till someone pointed out a mark on the bottom that translates as "experimental" and a collector friend from France identified it for me from a rare US Mine manual. It's good to have friends who are in the Know! Jim

jcb, welcome to the forum, glad you guys found each other!

That is one awesome piece of ordnance, the only reference material I have says there is a 'wider' version of the Type 3 reported, but that's not this one. Maybe we can turn something up. Trey

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon!
