Just picked up my second one of these. I now have a 93K and a 98K serial number example. The later one has two nails in the buttplate & the earlier one has three. Also, the lower bands are different between the two. Another thing is the rivets at the rear of the handguard - the earlier one has aluminum rivets & the rivets on the later rifle are steel.
Here's some photos

Nice rifles, thanks for the pictures. The 2 nail BP is especially 'strange"! _________________ 03man |

I first heard about the 2 nail BP when I posted photos of my first "rope hole" some time back & someone commented that I need to find a 2-nail rope hole now. I thought great, another hard to find item that I'll probably never come across. Guess I got lucky this time - especially to get tipped by a friend about this one! _________________ "A woman, a dog & and a walnut tree. Rob
Super-nice pair of rifles! In the photo of the receivers, it appears that 98xxx has a black painted finish applied to the bolt stop mechanism or is it just the photo?

Hi John, I had to look at that more than once myself. It's really black but doesn't appear to be paint, just a different "blueing". _________________ "A woman, a dog & and a walnut tree. The more ya beat em, the better they be" (From "The Red Bagde of Courage") |
