The sporterized type 44 carbine I bought on gunbroker showed up today. The bluing is 100%. Serial Number is 44573 tokyo arsenal mark. On the barrel is a circle with a triangle inside with an S stamped behind it close to the reciever. Also on top of the reciever near the rear is another circle with a triangle inside. Any ideas? The more I look this over the better it looks. What are the odds of finding a stock and bayo assembly. |

I thought it looked like a good one! You can find the stock and bayonet assembly, but it will be tough, expect to pay about $200 each for stock/handguard, and bayonet assembly on ebay or one of the other auction sites. That would still put you at under $500 in the package though, which isn't terribly bad. It is a candidate for restoration, its just do you want to spend the time and money on it. It is nice when a plan 'comes together' though. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Its Tokyo produced, would not have a series, it is a Model of 1915, production would be prior to 1927? have to double check Frank's new book for a closer production date. It should take a 1st variation (short bayonet housing) Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

This Type 44 was made in approximately 1922 if my project is correct. It was made by the Tokyo Artillery Arsenal.
