Seeing the post below reminded me to post this recent aquisition. This my restoration project, which should be fairly cheap considering the pistol was given to me. This pistol was shipped to japan in 1879 and is marked with a naval anchor with 2 wavy lines through it. this is the mark of the kure navy base. I do not know if this means it was accept through the arsenal there or if it was issued to a unit there. My example is missing the front sight and grips and needs it cylinder stop spring replaced. I am looking for pictures of any other examples so that i have an idea what the grips look like, I am getting all sorts of different answers.

Mike,
Did you get a factory letter on this piece? Just wondering how you knew it was shipped in 1879.

No, I didn't, hardly worth it. The info on the navy contract guns is readily available and found in several books. The newer derby and brown book on page 277 has a chart showing the different models, shipping dates , shipping agent, serial numbers and totals. In my first post I forgot the serial 911x (cant read last digit) _________________ Fat, Drunk, and Stupid is no way to go through life son. |

Mike, nice one, I really like 'em. Will get pictures of the semi-local ones when we go to Roy's. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!
Fill out a Japanese Rifle Datasheet.
I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Nice pistol
It sounds like the Japanese bought a lot of different US weapons before they started making their own. |
