I have a nearly new Izawa Jyuko later series.
It shot pretty well with mild loads, but scattered somewhat with loads approaching full power. The barrel is pretty skinny, making it a light, handy rifle to carry in the woods (as issued). I had a pile of shavings left from planeing a birch mantlepiece. I used gluestick to layer the shavings in the barrel channel right where the barrel band goes, in the stock and handguard. I built them up until I had a tight "clamp-up" when the band was slid back in place. I also tightened the fit at the fore-end in the same manner. The rifle now shoots nearly one hole 3-shot groups at 100 yards. I'm using Remington 180gr Round nose bullets (0.310) over 45gr IMR4320. This is a fairly stiff load, but it now shoots great in the Izawa Jyuko.

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon!

thats right at the limit for 4320 in a 180grs for the arisaka,tho normally they are loaded with .312's,but a 180gr bullet the recommended high is 45.7 ,I get the best accuracy with 4895 in about 42.3 gr charge using 180/.312's I have decent luck with 4320 at about the same...the pressure should be slightly differnt with a smaller .310 bullet but not much...that is impressive accuracy, I usually find the opposite works,making sure that nothing touches the barrel the entire lenth of the groove from receiver to muzzle. sounds like youve got a combo that works for you.

DEFUC, depends on which loading manual you use. It's mid-range for the Lyman manual, and is supposed to come close to 2500fps (similar to the military load). I don't have any pressure signs in my rifle. This load is for my bad neighbors (big furry things will stomp, chomp, claw and gore you).
My other load uses a 100gr pistol bullet over about 12gr Unique.
