Not really sure what these are, there are a bunch of them, the differ in color of the anchor, some are blue, some are black. They appear to be for sewing on maybe?
When I questioned the seller? "...no idea other than they were grabbed from an island supply depot on either Saipan or Peleliu..." As usual always buy the items, not the story. Here they are. Anyone have any ideas what they are or have something similar? War era, Post War? They measure 5/8" (16 mm) across. Trey

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Trey, I believe they're WW2 vintage pins. They appear unfinished as they'd have had a pin on back attached at two points. We need a translation of the single kanji & we'll know. |

Jareth, thanks, I didn't think of them needing the 'pinbacks' added, just assumed they would be 'buttons' of some sort. I sent them to Takehito, he didn't mention that he recognized the kanji. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

Had my neighbor check out this button and it appears to be the words “Yama oh" or more properly “Sanno”? Takehito is checking to see if he can locate a school or some such that goes by that name and has found nothing yet. I agree that it is more than likely for a school or on the out side chance a logo for a squadron. Its use may be like a lapel pin or cap device. |
