I made a observation.....

When something doesn't work the way it should it bugs the living
daylights out of me, sometimes.... this is the sometimes... especially
when I have two 99's and they don't decock the same.

I noticed after looking at the bolts... the machining where the firing pin cocking piece rides the rear of the bolt body... follow? Well... where the cutout is deeper to allow the firing pin to travel farther to contact the primer...

In between the two cutouts there is a little hump... the hump on one of my 99's bolt is a bit higher than the other 99's bolt. So... that's the reason for smacking the bolt to drive it home uncocked... it needs a little help getting over that hump....

EUREKA!!!!! GLORY BE!!! I feel better now, how bout' you Arisakadog?

Don't get carried away with it, especially if it's hard to close. That's where the "hump" can get a piece broken off of it. My no-series Nagoya T-38 uncocks so slick that you can close the bolt as easily as opening it.
Just be careful & don't blame me if you break sumpin Shocked

Your observation is wrong - it was not designed to close like a Mauser. The trick Adog uses is a gimick that works most of the time. It's that other time that get you in trouble. I've got two large safes and if I stack them in with the bolts open I can get about 115 rifles in the two. There is merrit in leaving the bolts open. riceone.

I lightly filed the hump where the cocking piece rides and it elieviated the
problem. I'm able to decock the bolt by hold back thr trigger to completely
decock the bolt.

Now that I think about it you're right.... the one I just got is wore out then.

I'm spoterizing the one that didn't decock. So I guess it doesn't matter.
Thank You for the info.
