While the Type 38 and early/mid Type 99 actions are some of the strongest military actions produced, The Type 14 and Type 94 actions are not. The topic came up recently and I was asked for some pictures of one exhibiting the classic signs of 'hot load abuse'. The pistol in question is a 19.9 Dated 94, late enough to exhibit rough features, normally perfectly safe to fire with normal loads, now however, after how many hot loads it took to do this, no longer safe to fire...
Note the 'bow' and 'daylight' visible between frame and the slide, and worn down locking block. For comparison is a later pistol that was not so abused.
Anyone got one in similar condition with bowed slide or exhibiting damage?
This one hasn't been so abused.

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

Trey, Thanks for posting the photo's and it is an interesting issue. If anyone else has one like this sign out as I would like to see how many more we can find in this condition. There can't be many but I have seen maybe 3 in all my years of collecting. |
