Let me display my ignorance on Type 99 Long Rifles.

I was going through odds and ends and found what I assumed to be Type 99 long cleaning rod. It appears to be a repro. It is 29 5/16" long. Just to check I pulled out my Toyo Kogyo T-99 long and tried to put it in. Nope - too long. Well that is odd. So I measured the rod that was in that rifle and it was only 23 7/8" long. Hummmmm. So I took out my Nagoya T-99 Long and it has a rod that is 29 3/16" long. The first rod fits it OK.

Do Toyo Kogyo T-99 Long Rifles really use only a short rifle cleaning rod? I have not taken it apart to see if something is blocking the rod channel. Can anyone comment?

Frank, it should take the long rod, so something is probably in the channel. Trey
