Recently acquired an Arisaka Mdl 38 in good-vg mechanical condition, mum intact, numbers match, rod, dust cover, etc with Century Arms St Albin VT import marks. Second line of stamp under CA name is M99 65 JAPAN. Stamps are very small, neat. Rifle is definitely a 38 so import stamp is not correct if Mdl 99 was implied by importer. Rifle markings indicate Type 38, Nagoya Arsenal, Series 26. No third party country markings. Any idea where this one came from when Century imported it? Definitely not vet bringback. Appreciate any insight. cj _________________ cj |

Several European nations import laws require the country of origin and the caliber stamped on the weapons. Looks like someone there did not know a Type 99 from a Type 38. I have seen similar marks on imports from Germany and the UK.
