Maytagman, the series 7 is a interesting rifle with several changes made during it's run. It looks as if you have the short rear sight which came into use early in the series. It requries a longer hand guard than the earlier rifles. Please tell us more about the rifle. If you can, download and fill out a data sheet. It will help you understand the rifle better. It is difficult to fill out at first, just keep at it and everything will fall into place.
