I have been looking for a Mukden bayonet with an un-fullered blade for a while. There was one on Ebay and of course I was right on top of it. At least till the very end. Missed it by about $25.00. Before the day was done, I got an email from a fellow collector offering me a better one for the same money. It even has a wooden scabbard. This is not the first time that this has happened. Japanese collectors are always willing to help each other out. _________________ Life Is For Service |

George, don't want to rain on your parade but every JB 124 I've owned (3) or seen has had a steel scabbard unique to Mukden & this variation. Even both my JB 126s have steel scabbards. Is the wood scabbard a black painted/stained with staples? |

I don't know yet. I am getting it from Scott Elkins. In the past, Scott seemed to have nothing but the best bayonets. If the scabbard is wrong, that's ok too. I still need the bayonet.

George, In case you forgot to check, Scott may have the Jinsen bayonet you're looking for. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

George a standard green painted scabbard is, in my opinion incorrect & Scott should know that. Not to mention his prices are completely unrealistic. |

Doen't sound like Japanee collectors are such great guys, at least not the bayonet sellers! But then b'net collectors rank with insultor, butterfly and matchbook collectors. Not a flame, just the truth. |

Actually his prices on the good stuff have been no more than Ebay prices. Sometimes buying a bayonet that you need outright from a collector (or dealer) for a few dollars more beats trying to get one on Ebay. So far, I have only bought Rocking Star bayonets from Scott and all had very rare frogs (in my opinion). The frogs made the prices a little more reasonable. I am sure glad that I don't collect the early bayonets! _________________ Life Is For Service |
