At what series were monopods and dustcovers discontinued for the type 99 Nagoya, Toyo Kogo, and Kokura?

Were monopods used on Jinsens and Mukdens? I've never seen a pod on either of these.

Thanks,

Rob

and thanks to Ronin for introducing me to this forum.

Welcome to the forum, sorry for the delay.

From what I can tell:

Nagoya quit using monopods at the beginning of the 5th series. While a couple 5th series rifles have been reported with monopods, the rifles that I have examined from 194 to 14069 show no signs of ever being fitted with a monopod. Matching Dust covers have been verified through the late 5th series. There is one 6th series rifle reported with matching D/C but it has not been verified.

Kokura used monopods up until the early 86k range of the 23rd series. There are a few reported with pods after that, but there are more reported with no signs of pods. Dust Covers are reported through the 78k range of the same series, but have not been confirmed.

Toyo Kogyo used pods through the early 20k range of the 32nd series, there are a few reported later, but these have not been confirmed. Dust Cover use is confirmed through 55k of the same series. Again, some are reported later, but have not been examined.

Tokyo Juki Kogyo used pods into the early 20k range of the 37th series, while matching Dust Covers are reported to only 14k of the same series.

While there are a few pods reported, all the rifles I have examined under 1K exhibited no signs of ever having monopods attached, so I would not expect Jinsen 40th series rifles to have been fitted with monopods. There are a few Jinsen 40th series rifles reported with matching dust covers, but none of these have been confirmed.

No 45th series Hoten (Mukden) rifles have been reported with pods or matching dust covers. Production probably started after use of these parts had been discontinued.

These are observations from my study of the Type 99 rifles over the last 5 years. These are just observations. Trey

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon!
