Welcome to the forum, a general description including arsenal, series, serial range, mum treatment (whether mum is present, ground, or struck), and a price would be helpful. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

Thank you for the welcome, and i understand i was very vague in my post, but in all honesty i really don't know much about it and compared to everyone on here i know nothing. I looked to try and get some info on it but can't seem to find much. I started collecting ww2 stuff(big ww2 buff here) and my buddies wife's dad had this gun(he had recently passed away) and they needed some money so i bought it. I have no clue how much its worth. And i'm not going to try and fool people whom seem to know and love this type of antique. I am considering putting it on ebay but figured i'd try this site first. If there's a way to find out exactly what type of gun it is please let me know and i'll pass on the info.

Hard to say exactly what series and serial #, but it is a Kokura Type 99 short rifle with ground mum, I can't tell the series, I expect 20, 21, or 22nd series from the front sight guards (Type A). See the type 99 Datasheet in my signature. We'll need the series, serial number, and arsenal, whether or not the numbers on the bolt, safety, firing pin, and front band match the last three digits of the serial number, for starters.
Print out the datasheet, it should help you identify what you've got. We can talk you through the id, but I'll be out of town (camping with cubscouts) from tomorrow afternoon through Sunday. So I'll be delayed in any replies. Does the bayonet have the same arsenal mark? Are the numbers on the butt or the tang between the grips? Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!

cobradawg,
ebay doesn't allow firearms anymore. You will have to use another venue.
Why don't you put a price on it here? _________________ 03man |

I'd hate to see another old warhorse get broken up for parts. I think there is a complete Type 44 on ebay now, even still had the rods in the butt. Shame to see it last this long and get broken up for parts just to get more money for it. Just my 2% of that dollar though. Trey _________________ Subscribe to BANZAI!
