|
|
Saw the thread on the battle damage rifles but as I don't collect rifles I thought I would start a thread on battle damage holsters. Attached are photos of a Baby Nambu holster I have. As you can see there are two bullet entrance holes, what you can't see are any exit holes and that is because there aren't any!! I don't have the Baby that took the hits but would love to see it. I'm sure the damage was so bad and any GI would have just thrown it away for a good one. The holster came with my Tokyo Baby it sure wasn't in this holster with it took what looks like 30 cal rounds.

These were the real souvenirs! I would liked to have seen the pistol too!!! BanjoMike PS Let,s see somemore. In all my collecting I have seen more Japanese battle damaged goods than anyother country. They "the Japanese" went down hard and messy. |

I didn't pay to much for that old Arisaka, I just bought it a little bit too soon! |

what is really nice is that even with this damage, when laying in my display case you can't see it so as not to distract from the over all display. I'll try and remember to carry it me next time I make the trip north. |

pistol must have been out of the holster or the damage would have been much worse when the bullet deformed or pistol exploded. My dad said after the war every surplus dealer used to take a few selected items and put a bullet hole through them and drop a little hamburger blood on them. Any way to know if the battle damage is real on when shopping for these items. |

The lower hole looks like an exit hole - especially compared to the hole(s) above. That pistol would be great to see!
This just happened to remind me of a Hard Shell Baby holster a friend of mine had. It had been badly dog-chewed. I'd bet some poor dog caught hell for that. Damn shame to have that happen to a holster as rare as they are! _________________ "A woman, a dog & and a walnut tree. The more ya beat em, the better they be" (From "The Red Bagde of Courage") |

My friend has a Nambu that has been shot in the barrel. Photos enclosed. The pistol was with a holster that reflected the same bullet wound, but the holster is now missing. Anybody have any idea where the holster might be?

Welcome to the forum! Now that is cool! Where many ended up, in a closet, then a box, then who knows where. When my Grandmother remarried after my Grandfather died, she threw out several footlockers, unopened that he'd sent back from the occupation....Thanks for posting! Now that is way to cool. I've seen any number of rilfe stocks with battle damage but this is a first for me. What is the date code of the pistol and if you can the serial number so we can record it for our production data. If your friend ever wants to part with I sure know where he can send it. |
